Bird Foot Begins

A few weeks ago while I was visiting Nanette's blog - Knitting in Color.... actually, let me stop right here for a minute. If you haven't been to her blog, you have been missing a wealth of knitting information and some of the most beautiful colorwork knitting I have seen. On her right sidebar there is a link to "See a gallery of all my knitting" .The first time I clicked on that link, I didn't come out for a long time!!! On top of that, she has several wonderful stranded color knitting patterns and booklets - and has just finished a new glove booklet.
OK, now where was I?? Oh yes.... she had a link to Red Bird Knits which I followed to some beautiful patterns by Robyn Gallimore. It was difficult to pick just one, but I did.

birdfoot begins

The pattern is called Bird Foot and is based on old Turkish designs. I have chosen Cherry Tree Hill Supersock (that I got with a birthday gift certificate from my daughter - Thanks, Kate) in black and wild cherry. There are several more pattern changes as you get to the ankle, instep and sole of this sock....enough to keep the knitting very interesting. I stop every few rows just to admire the evolving pattern. I'm guessing it won't be a speedy knit, but the great thing about stranded color knitting is that you can see progress even with just a row or two!

In answer to the question I got from several people......After very little deliberation, I chose Fire on the Mountain as my STR Gift Certificate purchase and cannot wait for it to arrive. When I told Lori ,from whom I won this GC, which skein I had chosen....this is what she said." Wait until you see Fire on the Mountain! It's like every awesome color in the universe in one skein, but in a good way!" Thank you Lori!

Some Assembly Required

And I just received my sock yarn from Adelle - What a fun colorway....it reminds me of those neapolitan coconut candies I had when I was a kid. I had not heard of "Some Assembly Required" hand dyed sock yarn from Socks that Fit. This is a beautiful, soft, merino wool and it should make some fun socks! Thank you Adelle!
