Raspberry Socks

The final product from my own hand-dyed yarn ......beautiful socks!!

Pattern: Scale Skin Socks ( August 06 pattern from the Six Sox KAL designed by Michelle who blogs at Lighthouse Designs by Soap Fiber Gal) Yarn: Hand-dyed Knit Picks Bare Superwash Fingering Needles: 2 socks on 2 2.25 circular needles My socks looked more and more like raspberries as I went along. The actual color is less pink/more red than these photos - also less blurry....I have not perfected my photography skills yet. As I was knitting these socks, the pattern seemed more and more familiar to me.....and then I remembered ...about 3 years ago, I knit a pair of Schiaperelli Slippers (Pattern by 3 Trails Handknit Designs)which I now recognize as the exact same pattern stitch!

For my never fail/never flare picot cuff, I use a knitted cast-on, twisting the stitches as I put them on the needle (makes beautiful loops to pick up). I work the hem rows on a one size smaller needle (in this case 2mm) then after my turning round ((yo, K2tog), I change to my regular needle size and knit the same # of rows before picking up my easily seen cast on loops and knitting them with the live stitches.

I think I am the only one that still hasn't received my STR Club kit ....I couldn't wait and cast on a pair of Whitby Socks, from Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road, to hold me over. I am using Sheep's Gift (Denim Colorway) from Joslyn's Fiber Farm on 2.75mm circular needles....another pair of Project Spectrum socks.

and Swallowtail is nearing the end.....
