A cute little pair of Dulaan mittens that I made from quadrupled (yep 4 strands held together) patterned sock yarn (?Elann - not sure) on US 8 and 9 needles. 2 mitts together on 2 circular needles in 1 evening using The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns by Ann Budd.
They are bright, soft and toasty warm.

Do you remember these pictures?
Well Cam decided he wanted a matching hat. I told him I would knit the ribbed edge if he knit the rest. He is working hard....Head cropped off at Cam's request.

My Swallowtail Shawl is blocking.
It is 60" X 32" which is just perfect for me!
I should have some completed pictures soon - maybe this weekend... |

My plan with the Rockin' Sock Club was to make each kit exactly as it came....a little push to venture out of my rather small knitting/color box.
WELL this 1st kit is testing me. I NEVER would have bought this yarn....It is way out of my comfortable color range. Connor said it looked like algae and I agreed! Olive green/ grey/brown ...very beautifully dyed, but not "my" colors in any way. The pattern is a toe up, short row garter toe/heel, ribbing and cables....I've always knit cuff down...
SO, I'm following my plan and knitting the kit exactly as written.
GUESS WHAT?? I'M LIKING IT! |
The colors are starting to look like a forest floor - subtle and beautiful. The yarn is perfectly spun, soft and squishy. The toe construction was fun and easy (I just got this kit at 4:00 yesterday afternoon and knit up the toe last night) I can't wait to continue so I better end this blog post!
