Checking In...

Here's what's happening in my fiber world ...

The man socks are finally done - only took 5 months :-)

Jawoll Socks

Pattern: My own - cuff down 6 X 1 rib over 70 stitches.
Yarn: 1 skein Lang Jawoll Silk - color 130.0035 (such a lovely name!)
Needles: 2 socks on 1 40" 2.25 mm needle
Remember how excited I was about having this little spool of reinforcement yarn ? Well I was halfway down the foot before I realized I forgot to use it in the heel and then had the sock toes kitchenered before I realized I forgot to use it again for the toes! Oh well - the yarn is 55% wool/20% silk/ 25% Nylon - should be plenty strong!

La Digitessa

I have wanted to make La Digitessa since the 1st time I saw the pattern - such a beautiful design! The yarn is Lorna's Laces Sock in Lemon Ice. You can see how the gusset is going to flow smoothly from the side cables - SO PRETTY! They are slow, but since this is the only pair of socks on my needles, it shouldn't take forever to finish them. There are multiple errors on charts 2 and 3 of the English pdf download - it took me forever to figure out what was wrong - I have notified Yarnissima, but she is at Sock Summit and will fix it when she gets home. So if you download it before that...beware!

genius blocks

Here are the blocks for a bright fun baby quilt I am designing - this time for a friend that is having a baby in the late fall. I struggled for days trying to figure out how I wanted to use the blocks for the center portion of the quilt and after playing around with many different ideas, I decided to just frame them in bright colors. I'm working out the borders now which will liven it up even more - it's going to be VERY bright and colorful!

genius center

A peek at the tent flap on the camping quilt - this one is getting near the quilting phase and is turning out just as cute as I had hoped.

camping

My renewed love for quilting is still in force - besides these 2 quilts, I am working on the Mystery scrap quilt, 9 patch scrap quilt and the scrappy blue stars quilt (which is sandwiched and partially quilted!)

Cape

We had a wonderful trip to the Cape and are now headed to Campton, NH for some hiking/canoeing/kayaking -ahhh the life of a teacher and independent contract nurse in the summer :-)
