Andes Socks Done/2 Quilts Begin

This pattern called loudly to me - as I've said previously, all the motifs, but especially the Andean birds and dancing ladies were too wonderful to pass up! After pulling out all my sock yarn stash, I came up with what I think is a perfect yarn combination.

Andes Socks Pattern: Andes by Robyn Gallimore of Red Bird Knits
Yarn: 56 gms Trekking Pro Natura (Wool/Bamboo) color 1601 and 40 gms Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Chino
Needles: 2 socks on 1 2.25 mm 40" circular needle.
I followed the pattern exactly as written except for the toe shaping - perfect pattern and chart!

I've also started a few more quilts - I saw this pattern and knew I wanted to make it for a child - either a donation quilt or hold on to it for a child in my future. I bought the central tent panel here and went through my stash to find matching fabric for all the borders.

I have also joined round 2 of Crazy Mom Quilts - One a Day Nine Patch Quilt Along - making one 9 patch block each day - I have a huge bin of plaid/woven fabrics and I am limiting myself to this pile of fabric - there should be more than enough for 70 unique 9 patch squares!

We are headed to the Cape for 4 days - another short break from summer life at home - the boys are hoping for big waves - I've got good reading and knitting - ahhhh!
