Kiila

This was a fun simple mystery sock by Yarnissima - "Kiila" means "gusset" in Finnish and that is where the fun was in these socks. The small side foot cable cleverly increases in dimension for the widening gusset. But my favorite thing about these socks is the beautiful sky blue yarn - "Heavens Above" is the perfect name for this colorway!

Kiila

Pattern: Kiila by Yarnissima (presented in 4 mystery clues)
Yarn: 1 skein Colinette Jitterbug in Heavens Above (with 17 gms left over)
Needles: 2 socks on a 2.5 mm 40" circular
Size: Small
Modifications: Minor changes - I played around with the chart to make the back and front meeting of the cuff/leg curve symmetrical - I think it looks prettier this way from the side - I also decrease one stitch in the front before starting the cuff so it continued in the K2, P1 rib pattern all the way around. Cast off using the new suspended bind off that I just learned making the Alpine Lace Shawl which made a pretty and very stretchy edge.

I started a new pair....Uinta Cabin by Nancy Bush from Knitting on the Road. I'm unsure of my color choices and placement (dictated by yarn supply since I am using only leftover sock yarn), so I've been working at warp speed on these just to see "how they will look after the next row..." This picture was taken a few days ago - I'm almost to the toes :-)
