Spruce Mittens and Rhinebeck

Pattern: Spruce Mittens from "Favorite Mittens" by Robin Hansen. (My 3rd pair of mittens from this excellent book!)
Yarn: Artyarns Handpaint Stripes in color 115 leftover from these and Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Dove Heather.
Needles: Knit together on 1 40" US 5 circular needle
Size: Cast on 52 stitches and followed directions for WS, but because of my bigger gauge, I used the length directions for WM.
Here's one more picture.

I really enjoy knitting (and wearing) worsted weight mittens - this pair starts out with the wonderful "Maine Method" of casting on for a nice firm strong edge, followed by a simple 4 row pattern repeat. I love the anatomical thumb placement on these mittens and especially like the centered increases for the thumb gore. A perfect pair of warm wooly winter mittens!

As you can see they fit both Dave and me...so whoever gets to them 1st...

We had a blast in Rhinebeck!! Bought lots of yarn, saw friends, touched fiber to our hearts content - a wonderful day all around! I hardly took any pictures - here are a few. (Linda was a better photographer than me!)
