Pat's Knitting and Quilting
April 26, 2010 My camera died on this trip (got sand in the lens mechanism), but I got a few pictures 1st. A family shot - minus Matt (in AK) and Kate (home working). At almost 12 and 14 they still love him! Dave and I on the ferry. The weather cooperated enough that we even got a few sunny warm beach days. (It's been a while since that pale skin has seen sunshine!) I only knit about 2 rows on these socks - but had to get at least one knitting picture. Of the three in-progress socks that I brought along, Hedera was the only pair that I managed to complete - I've never been much of a vacation knitter. I have wanted to make a pair of green Hederas since the day the pattern came out in 2006 and I finally did it! A simple beautiful lace pattern knit with gorgeous hand-dyed Footnotes yarn in Batik (one of a kind) by Kimber Baldwin of Fiber Optic (purchased at Rhinebeck last year). I recently realized that Kimber also dyes fiber and am hoping to sneak into her fiber club when it reopens in May!
Pattern: Hedera by Cookie A. I knit this lovely simple 4 row repeat lace pattern pattern exactly as written - no mods. Since I am probably the last person on the planet to knit these socks, there is really nothing more to add - -and I finally have my green Hederas :-) Now off to buy a camera (as you can tell, I took the modeled Hedera pics with a craptastic camera.)
