Magnificent Mittens 6-5

Magnificent Mittens

Pattern: Magnificent Mittens 6-5 by Anna Zilboorg (my new favorites!!!)- ravelry pattern link
Yarn: Outer Mitten: All leftover from other projects - Elann Peruvian Highland Wool
Lining: 1 28 gm skein (had 2 gms leftover) of lace weight (held doubled) 100% Golden French Angora from Cottage Craft Angora - this yarn is unbelievably soft and beautiful!
Needles: Used DPNs for start of mitten tip then changed to circulars - size 4 for outer mitten and size 5 for liner.
Followed Pattern exactly as written with a 5 stitch band and sore-thumb - I changed the cuff pattern a little bit by eliminating one row of diamonds and making a rolled cuff with a peek of tan after the last ridge.

Magnificent Mittens

From this point on, I think I will always line my mittens - so much sturdier than regular mittens and sliding my fingers into this angora is like a little bit of heaven - feels sooooo luxurious - a gift to my hands!

The big wide cuffs fit beautifully over any jacket - and they are such a pretty canvas for colorwork! You can see the tiny peek of light tan before the rolled ending on these pictures - it is in the shadow on the 1st 2 pics.

Had to put this last picture in (even though it is a little fuzzy) just for the gorgeous blue sky!

I will be making more Magnificent Mittens - they are so much fun to knit and they use big enough needles that it is not too hard on my recovering hands. These Anna Zilboorg patterns are all just wild and crazy enough to be a great knit - they unleash a little bit of color creativity, are challenging and on top of that, they are sooo soft, warm and beautiful!
