Pat's Knitting and Quilting
March 19, 2013
Here is a bright spring quilt I made for my friend's 1st baby - so simple, but fun little details too. I started with a charm pack and pulled stash fabric to augment it - charm pack on top row - stash on bottom.
I used a white on white print for the background and made this pinwheel quilt with prairie points on the borders.Pinwheel Baby Quilt the link is to the free tutorial/pattern- I followed the directions exactly as written then quilted with the feed dogs UP (I am not good at free motion quilting yet, so always do gentle enough curves that I can have the machine help me!)
Here is a close up of the prairie points around the edge - I LOVE the look of these and imagine the baby/toddler playing with them when wrapped in this quilt :)
and the backing....
I hope it is threadbare by the time she is done with it!!
On another note - I am spending almost all of my computer time here instead of Ravelry lately :)
Yep 7 baby chicks arrive on May 8 so I'm obsessed with chickens and coop building at the moment - really OBSESSED! I have every chicken book out of our whole state library system. I had chickens in the 1970s, but it's been a looooong time and I am learning all over again and am SO SO excited :))
Here is the start of my chicken coop - all framing lumber is cut to size and I'm ready to go as soon as this new snow melts.... I've never built anything except a bookcase and a bird feeder, so this should be interesting!!
