Millefiori Scarf

Just look at this rich shiny gorgeous merino/silk fiber - I hesitated a long time before spinning just to appreciate the beauty of the fiber (and I was afraid I'd screw it up!)

All Spun Up 50/50 Merino/Silk Blend - Millefiori colorway. Divided in half lengthwise then spun in natural color sequence and chain plied - 117 grams/220 yards worsted weight

and knit into a Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf

Pattern: Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf by Karen Baumer (Rav Link)
Size: 34 stitches - 5 1/2" X 51"
Yarn: 114 grams (4 ounces) of Handspun All Spun Up Merino Silk in Millefiori colorway - had only 3 grams leftover :)
Needles: US 5
Mods: None - used the alternate ending for symmetry

I knit one of these many years ago (here it is) and promptly lost it, so I finally have a replacement - What a fun knitting project - easy as can be and still so enjoyable watching the colors flow.

Byzantium Socks

I started these in October - they've been a long time coming!

Robyn Gallimore - Red Bird Knits - designs the most beautiful sock patterns. She has incorporated 6 different motifs from old Anatolian sock patterns into these Byzantium Socks. No chance of getting bored while knitting these! I knit them as part of a Ravelry Red Bird Knits KAL - supposed to be done in October - whoops :)

I love the soles :)

In the above picture you can see all the different motifs - what busy fun socks - It's unusual for me to have the background light and pattern dark - sure makes them nice and bright!

Pattern: Byzantium by Robyn Gallimore of Red Bird Knits
Yarn: 2 skeins Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock (1 "Natural' and 1 "Beverly")
Needles: 40" circular 2.25 mm
Size: 72 stitches on leg/ 76 stitches on foot
Mods: I made lots of tiny mods - mostly to satisfy my need for symmetry - boring info for those not making these socks! (Cuff : After I had done the 1st 4 rows, I realized the cuff edge chart was different than the picture and I really liked the picture better than the chart, but couldn’t (wouldn’t) frog (even 4 little rows) and do over, so opted to just make a shorter cuff edge and go from there. (I still like the picture edge better and would do it that way if I ever make again - haha) Sole: Centered the pattern (changed beginning of row) and only decreased to 35 stitches which leaves the solid pattern line edging followed by background line before side pattern. Instep: I kept stitch count at 31 but substituted background stitch for stitch 1 and 31 and changed stitch 2, 9, 10, 22, 23 and 30 to background on row 1 only and then stitch 2 and 30 on every row 1 in rest of repeats. When I write it out is sounds like a lot, but is just eliminated the extra little lonely stitches and added the edging.)

Currently have a scarf, 2 shawls, a colorwork hat, and a pair of boring man socks in progress as well as 13 ounces of merino/tencel making it's way through the wheel - not working quickly but working slowly and steadily :)
